Microsoft Retail Changes
Microsoft has announced a strategic change in its retail operations, including closing Microsoft Store physical locations. The company’s retail team members will continue to serve customers from Microsoft corporate facilities and remotely provide sales, training, and support. Microsoft added they will continue to invest in its digital storefronts on Microsoft.com, and stores in Xbox and Windows, reaching more than 1.2 billion people every month in 190 markets. The company will also reimagine spaces that serve all customers, including operating Microsoft Experience Centers in London, NYC, Sydney, and Redmond campus locations.

New Flagship Howard’s Location
Howard’s, a Southern California-based independent appliance retailer, recently announced the opening of its all-new flagship location at the Marina Pacifica shopping center in southeastern Long Beach. The new 22,500-sq.-ft. location functions as a luxury brand showroom featuring demonstrations of technology and connectivity, in-store kiosks, and live product vignettes. The store includes “live” kitchens, laundry displays, a coffee lounge, a designer conference area, and a connected experience.

Walmart Steps Up Omnichannel Efforts
Walmart has announced they have updated the Walmart signage on the exterior and interior of their stores to reflect the Walmart app icon, creating an instant omni-shopping experience in the customer’s mind. As customers enter the store, they are greeted with clean, colorful iconography and a store directory that encourages them to download and use the Walmart app while they shop, guiding customers from phone to product.
